This course covers the technical aspects of the application of acrylics to a painting surface. The development of a composition from the students’ ideas, the application of paint, colour mixing, mediums, brushes, different surfaces and how to create a reference of ideas and colours. Ideas are student driven and each person works on their own project The students will learn to design their own work and develop composition and colour palette for the work. They will learn about paint application, colour mixing and design development. SUITABLE FOR ALL LEVELS BYO MATERIALS *Materials list with be emailed with your receipt of payment. ABOUT THE FACILITATOR: Fiona is a visual artist and teacher. She trained as a scenic artist in Perth and worked for many years as a mural and large-scale painter. She often travels in the Southwest of WA, a totally beautiful part of the world to gather reference material and is inspired to paint the ocean because of the sense of belonging to the Earth that it inspires. Fiona works in both pastel and paint.

As the spring weather welcomes a warm calm presence, Tai Chi is the perfect morning start. Tai Chi is a form of martial art developed from Chinese Taoist philosophy. Its gentle flow and graceful movements can also be used as a very good set of exercise. With constant practice, it can promote good health, relaxation, balance and stability. In this course, participants will be introduced to a short form of Wu style Tai Chi, with particular emphasis on movements promoting a stable body. It should be suitable for both young and seniors and no prior experience is assumed. The details of each movement will be explained. Then participants will learn with the instructor and practise together. The course is also suitable for those who have some prior Tai Chi experience and might like to extend their knowledge.

Hola amigo! This course offers the opportunity to develop further understanding and sharing of information regarding family, work, leisure topics or personal interests. Learners are exposed to travel situations in areas where the language is spoken. This intermediate class is for those who have studied Bahasa Indonesia before at SPLC or elsewhere, and would like to come along to practise and improve their language skills. Our new Indonesian teacher Mela has extensive experience teaching Indonesian. She is passionate about teaching and will help you develop your Indonesian language skills in a fun and friendly environment!

Mandarin and Chinese Culture for Fun! ?? (Ni hao). This ongoing Mandarin course expands on previous knowledge of the language and Chinese culture. You will use pinyin; (Chinese phonetic system) to learn how to introduce yourself, greet others, ask simple questions and socialise. Cultural learning is integrated in the course to maximise the fun of learning the language. Join us and keep enjoying the fun of making festival foods (such as dumplings and Moon Cake), exploring Chinese music while learning the language!

Build the confidence to move from drawing within a grid to free-hand. Explore the styles and effects created through shading and pencil-grips. Practise Silverpoint drawing, a classical drawing technique, which has nearly disappeared in contemporary art. This technique improves your accuracy and skill level.
